Beautiful Art from the LeadingAge Site Visit

Posted: November 11, 2015

This beautiful mural was the collective creation of JCHE guests from LeadingAge. LeadingAge is the national trade association for non-profit organizations working in senior services.  Their national conference attracts 8,000 participants from across the country and took place in Boston this year.  JCHE was honored to be selected for a site visit.  We wanted participants to FEEL the JCHE difference—so instead of lectures and traditional walk-around tours, we invited guests to stop at 4 activity stations and experience the breadth of JCHE programs.  One stop was with our artist-in-residence Evelyn Berde, who has previously worked with JCHE residents on two exquisite murals gracing our hallways.  She is also currently working on a project for an additional mural.

This garden scene is made up of small individual contributions from 50 guests, clearly illustrated the principal that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts!  Visitors also participated in an arthritis exercise class with Francine Godfrey, our fitness/wellness director, a walk through of our new Ulin entryway and a renovated apartment with Jessica Boatright from the Real Estate Department, and learned about habilitation therapy for housing providers from Caren Silverlieb who leads our dementia programs and co-authored a guide on this topic.
