Innovative Fitness in an Innovative Space

With the opening of JCHE Brighton Campus’s new Program Center, we chose a variety of ways to celebrate. Two events of our grand opening celebration took advantage of the excitement our tenants felt at the beautiful new space.
Performing to Beethoven’s 5th Symphony as well as Dvorak’s 9th Symphony, thirteen delighted tenants enjoyed Conductorcise led by conductor Andres Lopera, a master’s degree student with the New England Conservatory. Conductorcise is an exercise program where participants conduct an imagined orchestra, mimicking the movements conductors would use to guide an orchestra through a performance. Andres led the tenants through a symphony performance, a music history lesson, and an aerobic workout at the same time.
Later, Elena Esther Shmushkis led fifteen tenants in JCHE’s first Zumba class. Zumba is a Latin and international music inspired fitness class designed to improve strength, toning, and coordination. It certainly brought smiles to the tenants participating in this innovative new program.
